Meet the Staff

Calvary Christian School is committed to hiring the highest quality teachers and administrators dedicated to academic excellence. All the teachers and administrators have deep Christian values and a heart for children. Teachers, administrators and all educational assistants are screened carefully and selected on the basis of their teaching expertise, Christian values, integrity, commitment and love for children.

With the belief that children do not care what you know until they know that you care, CCS teachers and administrators go well beyond the classroom to encourage, support and show love to the students. From attendance at student’s activities and sports outside of school, to calls and notes of encouragement, teachers and administrators show that they care on a continual basis.

All of our classroom teachers hold California Teaching Credentials, and many have advanced degrees, including several with Masters degrees and Reading Specialist credentials. All of our highly qualified teachers are fully committed to generosity of time and heart in their interactions with students and families.

	TERESA ROBERSON Head of School Teresa Roberson is in her 9th year as Head of Calvary Christian School. She received her M.A. in Administration and Supervision form California State University, Stanislaus in 1988 and her B.S. in Education from Oklahoma Christian University in 1969. She holds the California Professional Administrative Service Credential and the California Standard Elementary Life Credential. Teresa began her teaching career in Ojai and taught a total of twelve years before going into Administration. In 1997, Teresa was named the Elementary Principal of the Year for Region 7 by the Association of California School Administrators.	E-mail
	CHRISTOPHER RUTZ Assistant Head of School/Elementary School Director Chris Rutz received his B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota, his B.A. in Secondary Education from Western Oregon University, and his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Oregon. He holds an Oregon Teaching License and an Administrative License in Oregon and California. Chris serves Calvary as the Assistant Head of School and is beginning his tenth year as an educator.	E-mail
	SUSIE CURRAN Preschool Director Susie Curran received an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Santa Monica College. She completed additional coursework in Early Childhood Development through UCLA extension. She has been at Calvary Christian School since 1989 and the Preschool Director since 1997.	E-mail
	MARTI WILLENS Middle School Director/Matriculation Coordinator Marti Willens received her BA in Journalism from the University of Texas. She teaches eighth grade English and serves as the Middle School Director and Matriculation Coordinator.	E-mail
	ERWIN WONG Director of Admissions and Community Relations Erwin Wong has a Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary. Erwin completed his undergraduate work at UC Irvine in 1991, and is in the process of completing his Master of Arts in Theology.	E-mail

	CHARLIE BURR Preschool and Elementary Physical Education Charlie Burr received his BA in Speech Communication from Northridge. He teaches Preschool-2nd grade Physical Education at Calvary and is in his thirty-fifth year of teaching!	E-mail
	CINDY FERNANDEZ 4 Year Old Preschool Cindy Fernandez received her BA and teaching credential from UC Santa Barbara. She has taught preschool at Calvary for the past seventeen years.	E-mail

	ALICE LINDSAY 3 Year Old Preschool Alice Lindsay received her BS in Childhood Development from Oregon State University. Alice has been teaching at Calvary since 1989.	E-mail

	JANNA ANDERSON 3rd Grade Janna Anderson received her BS in Accounting, her MA in Education, and her credential from Pepperdine University. Janna has taught at Calvary for five years.	E-mail
	SHANNON BARRY 5th Grade Shannon Barry received her BA in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Sociology and completed her teaching credential at Pepperdine University. This is Shannon's second year at Calvary.	E-mail
	CHRISTIE BLACKWOOD 1st Grade Christie Blackwood received her BA degree in Liberal Arts with a mathematics emphasis from Pepperdine University. Christie did her student teaching at CCS and is now in her second year as a first grade teacher.	E-mail

	CAROLE CURRAN Transitional Kindergarten Carole Curran received her BA in Music Education from King’s College in New York. She also received her Early Childhood Teaching and Early Childhood Director’s Certification from UC Los Angeles. Carol just completed her twenty-fifth year of teaching at Calvary.	E-mail
	TJ FASSLER 4th Grade T.J. Fassler received his BA in Liberal Arts and teaching credential from Pepperdine. T.J. teaches fourth grade and is in his fifth year at Calvary.	E-mail
	JENNIFER HOFF 4th Grade Jennifer received her BA in Public Relations and Business and her teaching credential from Pepperdine University. She returns to Calvary from Chicago where she taught fourth grade for the past three years.	E-mail
	LINDSAY HOOGENDAM 3rd Grade Lindsay received her BA in Liberal Arts from Pepperdine and has now completed her Masters in TESOL. Lindsay taught at CCS for three years and then went to China to teach for two years. She returned to CCS as a third grade teacher in 2006.	E-mail
	AMBER JOHNSON 1st Grade Amber Johnson received her BA. in Liberal Arts and teaching credential from Pepperdine. She has a California Clear Credential, a CLAD Certificate, and a supplementary authorization in English. She is a first grade teacher and is beginning her eighth year in the classroom.	E-mail
	PAMELA JONES Elementary School Spanish Pamela Jones graduated from UC Santa Barbara and has both the Elementary and Secondary LIFE credentials. She has twenty-six years of experience in various positions from Kindergarten through College.	E-mail

	KAREN RENNER 3rd -5th Grade Physical Education Karen Renner received her BS in Ergonomics from UCSB. She teaches 3rd-5th grade Physical Education and is beginning her sixteenth year in the classroom.	E-mail
	MEGAN SALIOS 5th Grade Megan Salios received her BA in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Spanish and her teaching credential from Pepperdine University. Megan is beginning her third year as a fifth grade teacher.	E-mail

	HAYLEY SWICKARD 2nd Grade Hayley Swickard received her BA in Liberal Studies from Westmont College. She did her student teaching in the Carpinteria School District and is in her second year teaching 2nd grade at CCS.	E-mail
	ANTHONY WAMBLE Elementary Technology Specialist Anthony Wamble teaches Technology at Calvary and has an extensive background in computer technology. Anthony is starting his fifth year at CCS.	E-mail
	JENNIFER ZENZIC Kindergarten Jennifer Zenzic received her BA in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Literature and her teaching credential from Vanguard University. She is beginning her fourth year in the classroom and her first year at CCS.	E-mail

	JENNY HOWELL 6th Grade Mathematics and Science Jenny Howell received her B.A. in Liberal Arts with a Mathematics emphasis and her teaching credential from Pepperdine. She is a sixth grade Math and Science teacher and is starting her eleventh year at Calvary.	E-mail
