Casa Hogar Sion Orphanage

6th - 8th Grade Community Service Project:

CASA HOGAR SION (EL FARO) ORPHANAGE
Casa Hogar Sion is a Christian orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico that houses 120 orphan children, aged newborn through sixteen. They also make sure the children go to school and receive skills training for eventual life outside the orphanage. Calvary’s goal is to provide support and aid to the orphanage, help our students realize their ability to make a significant difference in the lives of others, share our resources and provide hope through prayer and service. Each student in sixth through eighth grade “adopts” a child for the school year. Calvary students pray regularly for their child, write letters in Spanish, and send packages of basic necessities and gifts for Christmas.

Calvary is committed to supporting Casa Hogar Sion (El Faro) in the following ways:

  • Each student (and their family) adopts two children.
  • Weekly group prayer
  • Monthly letters or e-mail of support and encouragement
  • Holiday and special occasion cards
  • Provide at least one care package with basic necessities for their “adopted” children (socks, underwear, shoes, a toy, etc.) on a birthday or Christmas
  • On-going collection of toiletries.
  • On-going collection of new and used children’s clothing, etc.
  • Orphanage staff appreciation including letters of encouragement, clothing and/or toiletries.
  • Field trips to volunteer and develop relationships with the children.
