CORE ACADEMICS

Students begin their educational journey with the introduction of reading and math as the major concepts presented in Kindergarten. A strong phonics-based reading program with an emphasis on decoding skills, coupled with a hands-on math experience gives each child the tools to handle the academic curriculum at Calvary. The goal of Kindergarten is to produce confident, competent students who have a joy for learning and interact well with others.

Throughout the elementary grades students gain independence in their thinking and study skills. Language arts and math are the center of the curriculum and students are challenged to incorporate their reading and writing skills into every academic area. Self-expression and critical thinking are encouraged as students learn to express themselves clearly. The core curriculum is enhanced by dynamic social studies and science programs that further develop an understanding of the complex world in which we live. The goal of the Elementary School is to produce outstanding academic students with solid Christian values, completely prepared to meet the demands of the middle school curriculum.
