Grading Policies
Students receive grades in all subject areas with citizenship and effort also reported. Citizenship and effort are not considered in determining a student's academic achievement grade. Grades for citizenship are determined for each student individually and independent of academic achievement
CCS believes that grading which only emphasizes test results minimizes the significance of daily classroom instruction, homework and student participation in class.
Grading in grades K-2 reflect the following:
E = Excellent Student achievement/effort is significantly higher than grade
level expectations.
G = Good Student achievement/effort is at a high level.
S = Satisfactory Student achievement/effort is at grade level expectations.
I = Improving Student is moving toward achievement/effort that is at grade
level expectations.
N = Needs Student is not achieving/making effort at acceptable levels.
Improvement
Grading practices in grades 3 through 8 reflect the following:
A-plus = 100 to 98, A = 97 to 94, A-minus = 93 to 90
B-plus = 89 to 88, B = 87 to 84, B-minus = 83 to 80
C-plus = 79 to 78, C = 77 to 74, C-minus = 73 to 70
D-plus = 69 to 68, D = 67 to 64, D-minus = 63 to 60
F = less than 60
Grades are related to the subject matter for the established content for each grade level.
