Parent Association Events
Book Fair - This annual event happens for a few days each spring. We invite a bookseller on campus to sell many types of books. The P.A. staffs the Book Fair with parent volunteers and receives a portion of the proceeds. We have the required summer reading books on hand to save you time. The children love to attend the Book Fair with their class.
Class Coffees - We will host a coffee for each class during the first two weeks of school. Your coffee date will be on the official school calendar. Please try to attend so that you can meet your room mothers and other parents in your child's class
Community Service - This program supports our Community Service Program and allows our students to go on field trips to learn about arts, drama and the needy in our community. The funds to support this project are provided by the PA.
Cultural Arts - The PA plans assemblies for the appropriate grades during the school day. These vary from music, dance, drama and art. Parents are invited to attend.
Earthquake - The PA maintains an earthquake emergency trailer stocked with supplies for several days.
Grandparents/Special Friends Day - This is held the Friday before Mother's Day in May. The TK-8 students' grandparents/special friends are invited to a special lunch, visit their classrooms, and attend a musical program presented by all the students.
Holiday Boutique - This event is a school and community favorite. The Boutique occurs on the first Friday in November in our gym. Approximately forty vendors are invited to set up booths and sell their treasures. You will have an opportunity to participate by working a two-hour shift during the day or serving on the committee. Last year's Boutique raised $30,000.
Hot Lunch - PA works with Beth's Kitchen to provide a hot lunch for the students four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). You have the option of ordering as many days as you like. A small percentage will profit the school, and you pay for the program directly. You may order hot lunch at www.bethskitchen.com.
Lost & Found - The PA oversees lost and found uniforms. When uniforms are not labeled, they are given to charity or later sold at the used uniform sale.
Moms in Touch - This is one hour each Monday spent in prayer for our students and staff. Parents are encouraged to attend.
Olympics Day - A TK-5th activity day to include athletic and recreational activities held at the end of school. Parents are encouraged to attend. To volunteer to help with Olympics Day contact Charlie Burr at cburr@calvarychristian.org.
Pizza Day - Pizza Day is on Thursdays. Pepperoni or cheese pizza slices may be ordered.
Publicity - The PA works with the staff to promote our school in the community. If you have pictures or information for this please give to the PA chairperson, Carolyn Sanford.
E-Scrip -
Supporting the school through the E-Scrip program is a simple, cost-free way that you can help. We encourage each new family to get involved by registering their cards at local grocery stores like Vons and Ralph's. Once registered, every purchase you make initiates a rebate to CCS from the store of 2-5%. It doesn't seem like much, but with the entire school involved, it quickly adds up to thousands of dollars of additional revenue, and that money assists in keeping tuition down for all families. Additionally, Calvary participates in cash to schools programs with Washington Mutual (Wamoola) and Westside Pavilion (School's Rule). Complete details for all of these programs is sent in the August parent packet, or you may contact the school office for more information.
Teacher Appreciation Lunches - These PA sponsored lunches are in May and may to show our teachers our appreciation for their dedication. The PA board serves these lunches.
Used Uniform and Book Sale - This event is held at least once a year near the end of school. It gives parents a chance to buy uniform clothes that are in good condition for great prices. Used books apply only for grades 5-8. Students are now required to have a set of books at home. |
