5th and 6th Grade Basketball and Volleyball Experience

Instructors: Bryan Coffey and Kathleen Gilmour

Activities: Former USC Volleyball player Ms. Gilmour and the outstanding basketball player and coach Mr. Coffey will team up to engage your child in a week of learning the fundamentals of basketball and volleyball. These two student favorites will make the week highly entertaining, while teaching skills to significantly improve their individual abilities and prepare students for competitive sports at Calvary and beyond.

Week 2 – Academics/Service Experience!

Our second week will feature a variety of activities for different age groups. For the younger students, we recognize the importance of getting a head start on academics for the next grade level. This week will give them an opportunity to gain confidence for the coming year. Our older elementary students will have the exciting opportunity to create and implement an exciting and fun service project they will take pride in and remember forever!

Transitional Kindergarten – 3rd Grade Academics Experience

Instructors: Calvary Elementary Teachers

Activities: Our team of elementary teachers know how to put the “fun” in fundamentals, and your children will enjoy themselves while learning at the same time! Students entering TK -3rd grade will have the opportunity to spend a week with the grade level teachers they may experience in the fall. Your child will learn basic skills in reading, writing, math and much more that will allow them to begin the coming school year with confidence and enthusiasm – all in a relaxed summer atmosphere!

4th-6th Grade Service Experience

Instructors: Amen Bains, Katie Gibbs and Bryan Coffey

Activities: Do you want your child to come home raving about how much fun they had while learning the power of serving others?  If so, join us this week as our children plan, organize and implement a service project in partnership with the Union Rescue Mission of Los Angeles.  Students will spend time with the children of the URM and make a real difference in the lives of others.  The goal of the week will be to organize and participate in day camp activities for URM children of a similar age who would otherwise have little opportunity to experience these fun and exciting events.  Activities will be in a fun, outdoor atmosphere off campus from URM.  Your child will have the time of their life and develop a heart for others in need – you don’t want to miss out!

Week 3 – Arts and Entertainment Experience!

Rock-N-Roll Summer!

Calvary Christian School is full of talented artists and aspiring stage rats! This week presents an opportunity for your children to live out their dreams as artists and entertainers!

Each day will be divided between fine arts and performing arts. Students will start each day with Calvary classroom teachers who will partner with our specialist teachers to deliver a program that will engage their minds and expand their creativity! Students will be working with music from such iconic artists as the Beatles, Elvis, and more!

Fine Arts

The amazing Mrs. Cooper is currently developing another one of her famous projects around the theme of Rock-N-Roll Pop Culture. The week will culminate with the completion of a project that your child’s grade level teachers and Mrs. Cooper will lead them through that will deepen their love of the arts.

Performing Arts

Students will work with grade level teachers and actor and director Ms. Lizz Carter to create a performance that will be engaging for both boys and girls! The ever-popular Mr. Fassler will be helping to lead this project as well – so the fun factor will be high! Students will learn basic stage performance skills along with some fun music and choreography, and work as a team to complete a Rock-N-Roll themed project to be performed at the end of the week.
