Independent School Entrance Exam

Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)

Our admissions committee kindly requests that every 5th-8th grade applicant complete the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Our goal is to ensure that any student accepted into our program is set up for success academically. In addition to the teacher recommendations, report cards, and in person meetings, the ISEE scores give us an objective data point to consider.

We recognize that this is an extra step for your student, so thank you in advance for your willingness to complete this process. Please encourage your child to simply do their best - extensive pre-test tutoring and preparation is not necessary.

The ISEE At Home can comfortably be proctored from your residence. Families can register for and learn more about the exam on the ERB Website. Please make sure to list Calvary Christian School as a score recipient so that we receive a copy of their score report within 48 hours of the exam. Due to the complexity and unfamiliarity of the format to some students, we recommend that applicant families look at some of the practice materials/ sample tests online to ensure clarity about the exam.

You can learn more about the format and what to expect below and/or review this Family Guide and Timeline (click on Family Guide download link).

What to Expect
  • The ISEE at Home will cover the same content, format, and scoring as if given at a typical Prometric test center.
  • The cost will be the same as a Prometric test center ($200).
  • Families must list Calvary as a score recipient for us to receive electronic score reports within 48 hours (School Code 054194).
  • The ISEE at Home must be taken on a laptop or desktop (NO tablets, cellphones) and is available via the current version of Google Chrome on either Windows or Mac.
  • Families will need to do a systems check prior to registration and allow for a testing environment inspection with a Readiness Agent (via image and ID of the student).
  • The Readiness Agent will also perform a security check in advance of the test. This includes a 360-degree environmental check to make sure the workspace is clean of personal items or contraband items (no posters of math facts on the wall, etc.) and a person check (they will check sleeves, pockets, cannot wear jewelry, etc.) to confirm that the student is ready to test.
  • The student will test alone (no parents or family members may be in the room). The system will also lock out all other applications on the student's device
  • Students can keep 2 pieces of scratch paper with them, 2 tissues, and can take 2 10-minute breaks throughout the exam (bathroom, snack) but will need to perform the security check again if they leave the room. Again, NO ONE is to enter the student's workspace after the exam has started. It is ideal that students test in a well-lit room at a desk or a table. They should be sitting up (not lounging in bed/the couch, etc.).
  • Students can ask questions of the proctor if they need help or clarification (by speaking or raising their hand). They will not see the proctor's face after the test has started but the proctor will be with them the entire time. There is a max of 8 students to 1 proctor during one test session.
We encourage you to select and schedule a time in November or December for your child to take the exam. Often a day off from school or a break period can be a good target for a less stressful test time. We look forward to learning more about your child through this process and know they will do their best!
