Calvary Students Enjoy Rare Opportunity to Participate in OAKE Children's Choir

Calvary Christian School submitted four auditions and all four students were accepted. The OAKE National Children's Choir is for students in 4th and 5th grade, and Calvary was proud to send Charlie Wildhelm (5th grade), Paul Kedeshian (5th grade), and Katie Russo (4th grade).  Rowan Goss, a 7th grade student at Calvary, was accepted into the OAKE National Youth Choir for middle school students.

The Children's Choir sang eight songs, including three songs in foreign languages (Spanish, German, Estonian), and the world-premier performance of The Wind composed by Rich Campbell. A highlight of the conference for the students was the opportunity to meet Mr. Campbell face-to-face.  The students had the unique opportunity to work with renown conductors who run nationally recognized choirs, many of whom are contest-winning university choral directors.

OAKE has four national conference choirs for students ranging from 4th-12th grade.  All together 418 students participated in the choirs representing 123 cities and 27 states!  Calvary’s Choir Director, Amanda Fuerst shared, “It was an honor to be part of such a significant gathering of so many talented and respected musicians. At Calvary, we strongly believe in the Arts as a form of expression and growth for our students, and it was exciting to see their talents and hard work being appreciated in such a meaningful way. It truly was an unforgettable experience!”
