School Life

Athletics

Welcome

The Calvary Christian School Athletic Program seeks to provide a safe and active environment where students have the privilege of participating in a sport, while at the same time representing their school. The Athletic Program strives to integrate the school’s mission statement by "developing Christian values through athletics." The Athletics Program is designed to teach our students that victory is accomplished through fair play and good sportsmanship, reinforcing the core values of love, humility, integrity, and faith. We look forward to the opportunity to work with your child to develop his or her athletic and leadership skills as we build your child’s confidence for all future endeavors.

Program Philosophy

Commitment

Calvary is committed to building cohesive teams and devloping excellent athletes. Commitment to the team is important and every player is required to participate in all games and practices. Every student athlete and his or her parents will be required to sign a "Contract to Participate" prior to each athletic season.

Playing Time

Athletes in 5th and 6th grade are guaranteed playing time in every game. Athletes in 7th and 8th grade will be a part of the team but may not play in every game. Playing time for 7th and 8th grade teams will be given at the discretion of the coaches.

Eligibility

Student athletes must maintain a C- GPA across all subjects in order to be eligible to compete. If a grade falls below a C-, the athlete will be put on academic probation for a week. Generally, grade checks will be conducted at the end of the week. If the grade sheet indicates that a student athlete on probation has improved his or her grade to a C- or above, he or she will be reinstated on the team. If any student athlete is on academic probation for more than two weeks during the season, he or she will be removed from the team.

Teams

Calvary fields, on average, 20 teams each school year in the sports of basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, track and field, golf, and cross-country. Each team competes in one of three leagues in which Calvary holds membership.  These organizations include the Coastal Canyon League for elementary sports and the Pacific Basin League and Delphic League for middle school sports.
